Attorney Katherine English has been elected chair of the SHARE Council for University of Florida Institute of Food & Agriculture Services, to serve 2017-2019.
The Special Help for Agricultural Research and Education (SHARE) Council is a volunteer-led group dedicated to the development of the University of Florida Institute of Food & Agricultural Sciences program through the identification, cultivation and procurement of support on behalf of the nonprofit University of Florida Foundation, Inc., which assists the program’s efforts in education, research and outreach to address important issues including water conservation, hunger, natural resources, development of healthy lifestyles, and more.
Ms. English joined Pavese Law Firm in 1994 and became a partner in the firm in 2000. As part of her practice in environmental and agricultural law, Ms. English is experienced in state and federal permitting and compliance programs relating to water, wetlands and wildlife. A graduate of the University of Florida, Ms. English is an alumna of the university’s Wedgworth Leadership Institute. She lectures regularly at the University of Florida Levin College of Law on agricultural conservation easements and provides an advanced skill class in board member ethics and responsibilities at the Florida Council of Cooperatives annual meeting. English is a member of the American Bar Association and the Lee County Bar Association.
In addition to serving on the SHARE Council for the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agriculture Sciences, Ms. English’s community activities include serving on The Florida Farm Bureau Association’s Natural Resources Advisory Committee, board of directors for the University of Florida Leadership and Education Foundation Inc., American Farm Bureau Federation Issue Advisory Committee on Water and Water Quality, board of directors for Redlands Christian Migrant Association, and board of directors for United Way of Lee, Hendry and Glades Counties.
